Why Events Like Cateran Dirt Dash Matter to the Future of Outdoor Adventure
Outdoor adventure has never been solely about equipment. Long after a ride is finished, it is the people, places, and shared experiences that remain in our memories. At its heart, it is about people, communities, and the shared experiences that inspire us to spend more time outside. Events like Cateran Dirt Dash bring these values together, creating opportunities for riders to explore new landscapes, challenge themselves, and connect with fellow adventurers.

As a brand dedicated to helping people stay comfortable in challenging outdoor conditions, DexShell was proud to support the 2026 Cateran Dirt Dash.
What Is Cateran Dirt Dash?
Cateran Dirt Dash is a two-day bikepacking adventure held in the heart of Perthshire, Scotland. Organised by Bikepacking Scotland, the event takes riders through the landscapes of the Cateran Ecomuseum, combining gravel tracks, quiet roads, forest trails, and remote countryside.
The organisation Bikepacking Scotland was founded by long-distance cyclist and bikepacking advocate Markus Stitz, whose work has helped establish Scotland as one of Europe’s most inspiring destinations for adventure cycling.
Unlike traditional races, Cateran Dirt Dash places the emphasis on exploration, self-reliance, and community, encouraging participants to experience Scotland’s outdoors at their own pace.

For many riders, the event represents everything that makes bikepacking unique: exploration, resilience, and the freedom to travel through wild places under your own power.

These are values that strongly resonate with DexShell’s own philosophy.
Supporting the Outdoor Community Beyond Products
At DexShell, we believe that great outdoor experiences are built by communities.
Behind every successful event are organisers, volunteers, route planners, local partners, and participants who invest their time and energy to make outdoor adventures possible. Supporting these communities is just as important as developing the products used within them.

Through our partnership with Bikepacking Scotland and collaboration with our UK cycling distributor Upgrade Bikes, DexShell has had the opportunity to contribute to events that encourage people to explore the outdoors and embrace new challenges.
Events such as Cateran Dirt Dash are important not simply because they showcase outdoor equipment, but because they create meaningful experiences that inspire future adventures.
In an increasingly connected world, they remind us why people continue to seek challenge, exploration, self-reliance, and connection with nature.
Why Waterproof Protection Matters in Real Outdoor Conditions
Scotland’s weather is famously unpredictable. A single ride can involve sunshine, rain, muddy trails, wet grass, stream crossings, and long hours spent exposed to changing conditions. Conditions like these are also the reason DexShell continues to invest in waterproof performance engineering, including technologies such as DEXLOK® designed specifically to address deep exposure challenges faced by outdoor users.

For cyclists and bikepackers, staying comfortable often has less to do with avoiding bad weather and more to do with managing it effectively.
Whether through waterproof socks, waterproof gloves, or cycling overshoes, the goal is simple: help riders remain focused on the journey rather than the conditions.
Real outdoor adventures do not stop when the weather changes. In many ways, they begin.
Supporting More Adventures Ahead
DexShell would like to thank Markus Stitz, Bikepacking Scotland, the event organisers, volunteers, local partners, and every participant who made the 2026 Cateran Dirt Dash possible.
We are also grateful to Upgrade Bikes for their continued support in helping bring DexShell products to cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts throughout the UK.
As outdoor communities continue to grow and evolve, we look forward to supporting more adventures, more riders, and more opportunities to experience the outdoors in all conditions.

Because the future of outdoor adventure is built not only by products, but by the people who continue to explore beyond the finish line.
