Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why do I need waterproof socks if I already have waterproof boots?

A: Waterproof boots work for wet or muddy trails, but they can be heavy and slow to dry. And once water gets in over the top, your feet stay soaked. Waterproof socks offer a lighter, more flexible solution for stream crossings or mixed-weather days

Q: Are waterproof socks fully rain-proof?

A: Not entirely. During extended exposure to rain, like long rides or runs, water can enter from the top open. However, when combined with gaiters or waterproof pants, waterproof socks are very effective at keeping your feet dry and comfortable in wet.

Q: How breathable are your waterproof socks?

A: Our waterproof socks use the PORELLE membrane, developed with over 50 years of manufacturing expertise. They offer a Water Vapor Permeability (WVP) rating of 15,000 g/m²/day (ASTM E96:95), meaning they allow about 70% of sweat moisture to escape.

Q: Why is it better to choose a size up for waterproof socks?

A: The laminated fabric – a membrane sandwiched – of waterproof socks reduces some of the stretch typically found in regular socks. If you have wider feet or are at the upper end of a size range, we recommend sizing up to ensure optimal fit and comfort.

Q: How should I wash and dry waterproof socks?

A: They are machine washable with any standard detergent. We recommend air-drying inside out, though it may take longer. If you use a dryer, please ensure tumble dry low setting. Do not place near direct heat sources which can damage the membrane.
